Hello Hurricanes and Welcome to our LEAD21-SSMS Blog.  This will be our 21st Century “One-Stop-Shop” for news, events, professional development and on-going collaboration. The blog will be updated weekly to keep you abreast of the happenings around campus and keep you plugged into our network of “Special Agents”. It is an EXPECTATION that you follow the Blog and are aware of the information that is posted.

Headlines for the Week

  • October 1 through 13, 2012 are Disability History and Awareness Weeks.  This is a great opportunity to provide instruction to students and to expand knowledge, understanding and awareness of individuals with disabilities, disability history, and the disability rights movement. More specific information on activities during these two weeks may be found at
  • The ESC has checked with the “FLDOE”  regarding “A+ Funds” for schools.  It “appears” that the funds will “probably” be released sometime in February, similar to last year.  The dollar amount in the SCPS school recognition budget for 2012 – 2013 was based on $100 per pupil. However,  the exact amount will not be known until they know the numbers of qualifying schools and the number of students.
  • A “Celebrate Schools Event” is being held at the Altamonte Mall on Saturday, October 13, 2012 from 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. The event will be held on the lower level in the area outside of Macy’s. The ESC is encouraging groups to perform for this event. A 20’x16’ stage and  a sound system will be available for acts who perform. Any and all types of student performances are welcome: band, chorus, dance, drama, step teams, cheerleading squads, etc. If you have a group interested in performing, please have them complete the attached form and return it to ESC/Mary Lane.
