Fall is in Full Swing!

SSMS Fall Festival was a hit! The weather was amazing and students, teachers, parents, and community members had a blast! Our students, parents, and teaches sharpened the saw and continued to build relationships with their students and families as they participated in all sorts of fun activities! Thanks to everyone that made this event happen and to Mr. DeJesus for facilitating it! #sharpenthesaw

  • Thanks, Chief Jackson, for an amazing 1st quarter promotion celebration. SSMS JROTC STORMed and celebrated their 1st 9 week promotions for demonstrating excellent academic performance in and out of the classroom and meeting the required 2.0 GPA to be promoted to the next rank. One of our parents were able to recognize her own cadet for this special ceremony! #STORM #celebratevictories
  • Thanks, Mr. Motley, for facilitating the PBS STORM Buck drawing and additional positive referral drawing. Students that received a positive referral were entered into a weekly drawing to receive an addition celebration for themselves and one of their friends! #STORM
  • Thanks to everyone that participate in Red Ribbon Week! #saynotodrugs
  • Shout Out to Ms. Stalker and Ms. Strickland for promoting SSMS at Lawton Elementary and Mr. Miles for marketing with students at the SCPS Magnet Expo! #STORM

SSMS Volleyball Teams STORM their way through the season!

Hello Hurricanes!!!! This Week’s  “STORM TALK” features SSMS’s Volleyball Teams!

Another volleyball season is complete! Thanks to all the coaches who have devoted endless hours to prepare our JV and Varsity Volleyball Teams for a great season. This Saturday marks the final tournaments at Sanford Middle (1st game starts at 10 AM for the SSMS boys’ teams) and  Markham Woods (1st game starts at 9 AM for the SSMS girls’ teams). #STORM #volleyballrocks

Girls’ in Government Deepen Their Knowledge with Real-World Experiences

SSMS Girls’ In Government STORMed as they experienced Civics first-hand at the courthouse. This was an extension to their previous learned knowledge from the Girls’ in Government day! Our students were able to deepen their knowledge and understanding with real-world experiences!Thanks to LWV-Seminole, Dede Schaffner, Judge McIntosh, Judge Nelson, Sergeant Lapp, Deputy Quiles, Lieutenant Lemma, Captain Howard, Lieutenant Heath, and Assistant State Attorney Bynum for participating and teaching our future voters and female LEADers! #empoweringgirlstoLEAD

  • Thanks, Mr. Motley, for facilitating the additional PBS celebration Wednesday. Student winners received a special celebration for having their name drawn for receiving a positive referral! This was an additional celebration for this lucky winners!
  • Thanks, Ms. Cabanillas Del Real, for facilitating another great 21st Century adult education 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families Night! Families learned about Habit 2: Begin With the End in Mind and created family mission statements.

SSMS Girls’ In Government STORM!

Hello Hurricanes!!!! This Week’s  “STORM TALK” features Girls’ In Government!

SSMS, in partnership with The League of Women Voters Seminole, hosted our first Girls in Government, Leadership and Service event today. The goal of the program is to provide our young female leaders the opportunity to explore the role of women in leading and changing society. Fifty of our Civics students participated. Thanks to LWVSeminole, Zelda Laden, Dede Shaffner, Karen Almond, Mayor Charlene Glancy, Jean Hovey & Sandra Solomon for sharing your journeys and empowering our students.

After meeting with local leaders, our Girls in Government, Leadership & Service team engaged in learning centers to help them further explore concepts in Civics. A special thanks to our teaching team of Ms. Hernandez, Ms. Bayes, Ms. Casiano, Ms. Pettry, Ms. Pearson, Ms. Reid, and Ms. Haney for preparing an enriching afternoon! The next step is for our leaders to have a trip to the courthouse to deepen their understandng of what has been discussed! #schoolsndcommunityworkingtogether #STORM
